Balog Auction Service - A Family Run Business
The family involvement at Balog Auction Service has built the business from the ground up. Bob Balog, an Olds College and Western College of Auctioneering (Billings, MT) graduate, began selling in 1971. Both brothers, William and Darwin, attended the auctioneer school in Billings and Darwin has taken over the brunt of the load in the everyday market schedule. Sister, Maureen, has been the office manager since 1989. Her work ethic and personable attitude keep customers coming back, sale after sale. Mother and father, Louis and Irene, gave the strength and direction to help the family stay steadfast on the course. The loss of Irene in 2003 was a tough, emotional setback to the entire business. Louis, Bob's son, attended the auction school in Billings, in March of 2003 and now the 2nd generation has rolled into the business. All the children, boys and girls, take an active part in this busy lifestyle.

Over the past 27 years, Balog Auction has sold 2 million head of livestock and have owned and operated part or all of eight different auction markets, but in 1993, we decided to "come home" and focus on the operations of markets owned at Lethbridge, Alberta and seasonal sales held in the Tompkins, Saskatchewan market.

Farm and machinery sales are the other major component of Balog Auction. We have managed and sold hundreds of farm auctions of all sizes, across Western Canada and the largest equipment dealer sale in Canada. We are one of the few auction companies licensed in both Canada and the USA for all types of sales.

Balog Auction's commitment and involvement to our community is second to none. Local 4-H, Youth Rodeo, Lethbridge Regional Hospital and many other charities always come first. Bob has also served at President of the Alberta Auctioneer's Association.

The roots here are deep - the commitment is unending and the future is bright.
